 When and why did you start drawing?- "I've been doing it since I can remember, but I didn't start taking it seriously until I was about 14-15 years old. As to why I got into it…. There’s no real reason, it just makes me happy and I grew to love it more and more through the years." Do you do commissions/requests/artrades etc?-“I DO NOT take REQUESTS.  I do ARTRADES every now and then, mostly with friends. I DO TAKE COMMISSIONS. Info here: [link] Are you self-taught or did you learn art at school?-“I am completely self-taught. If I do get to go to art school, it’s still gonna take a few more years.” Where do you get your inspiration from?-“Lots of things, my friends mostly, and I love them for that. My family, my pets, music, books, school, things that happen to me… movies…. Inspiration is pretty much everywhere, you just have to pay attention.” Do you like to listen to music while you draw? Is so, what type/group/singer etc?-“Yes I do, I listen to all types (almost) of music, I love music… of course I try to listen to things that go with what I’m drawing. I like Nickelback VERY much, GORILLAZ, Daft Punk… my weeaboo music of course, The Beatles, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, my friend Ana kind of got me into HIM not too long ago…. Long list, loooong list.” What program(s) do you use?-“Easy Paint Tool SAI mostly, but I use Photoshop (CS5) too.” What tools do you use?-“For my linearts… the Brush or the Pen tool, it depends on what I’m doing. I use the Pen tool when I work on my doujinshi and for cell shaded pictures, the Brush tool is better for other things, pictures with soft shading for example, it’s good for sketching too. When coloring, one of my favorite tools, is the Marker tool (along with the Blur tool)… I use it for those pics I color using my personal style. As for Photoshop, I no longer use it that much, final touches and that’s about it…. Oh, and screentoning, SAI doesn’t have patterns so I use PS for that.” Do you use a tablet?-“Yes, an M size Intuos 4.”  Where did you learn your coloring style? Was it self taught or did you have an actual tutorial help you learn it? If so, what was the tutorial?-“I developed it myself… in fact I’d say it’s still under development but it already has its bases. I’ve taken ideas from other artists of course, small details I like about the way they work… or just ideas that come by simply looking at a piece.” How do you give your pictures that lighting?-“I play around with layers a lot, the secret is there… some may wonder what those “Layer modes” are for, sit down and play with them for a while, you’ll see.” FULL FAQ HERE -> [link] |
