" I’ve had several hobbies in my life, playing piano is probably my favorite thing but it’s certainly something I can’t do as often as I would want to, if not because you can't carry a piano around because my father would want silence at some point.
I grew up in North City, it’s a very cold place and it snows all year round. You can’t go outside and play every day all day like children in other places so you’d have to keep yourself busy with indoor activities. My grandfather happens to be an avid reader and from an early age he taught me to read. I always enjoy a good novel.
Actually now that I mention it, I think that one of my favorite things about speaking several languages is that I can read all sorts of novels from different places.
So I think reading and playing piano would be my favorite hobbies.
I’ve had others though, like ballet and painting. I quit ballet a while back however, because I was not planning to nor did I have enough talent to become a professional ballerina so it would not have been worth my time… or my toes!"
This was originally going to be something super simple for a tumblr reply where I talk about her hobbies... but it ended up like this. I. dont. even....
I guess I just liked the pose, she was going to be sitting on a couch or something, but then I kept drawing and drawing and... this. Heh.
I would add the info that's meant to go with the picture for the tumblr reply but it's really late right now, so you guys will have to wait until later when I post it on her blog. I'll probably edit this description to add it though.
Now, you may or may not notice but I tried to mimic FMA 2003 Official artwork in this. Tried my best, I don't know just how legit it looks but I'm personally happy with the results. I've been watching the 1st series over and over for 2 weeks trying to absorb the style because BH fucked me up. I think that's finally paying off.
Okay, this is my very first critique, so please bear with me.
First off, the lighting is just right in this picture-it's not too dark, not too bright; it sets the perfect mood for reading bedtime stories. I like the fact that you gave her hair so much shading and shine to it, but I believe that you're trying to capture the 2003 anime style of the FMA series, yes? What I'm saying is if you're trying to make it look like an actual screenshot, ease up on the shine and I'd say it'd be perfect.
However, one thing that caught my eye that I can't draw away from is her neck: it looks too narrow. Is it supposed to be that thin or is the rest of her neck covered by her hair that's hanging over her left shoulder? If it were me, I would've just put that loose bunch of hair over her shoulder so her neck would be more realistic, but that's just me.
Overall, it's amazing. The background is just perfect! I really like it!
Wow, looks like from an anime. *O* Now that you mention FMA, I can see it a little bit out from the picture. Good work, your colouring style is great and I like the position in the bed. It looks really good.^^
I really like this picture... especialy the window... I don't know why.. I like the window... Perhaps its becuase it's so smooth... and I'm so odd like that But you're getting really good at drawing the body and all.
