This is a Sue Catalogue the :iconfullmetal-oc-academy: has been working on for the past few weeks.

This catalogue will help you pinpoint the most common Mary Sue types and help you avoid them.

We all worked together brainstorming ideas and :icontoasty-coconut: wrote everything down and organized the slides.

Just wondering, if you have time, could you give me your opinion on my two FMA COS OCs? I wonder if they even count as OCs since one is a homonculus of Alfons Heiderich and the other is the Earth counterpart of Marta from Greed's gang...?

All OCs are Mary Sues and that's not a bad thing they are all unique in their own way and that's it.

Uhm that isn't true. Some OCs are Mary Sues, even some official characters from published works are Mary Sues, so that's how it is.

But we all aren't cannon so we are all tagging along so we are all Mary Sues and if the person is happy with who their OC is than why does it matter?

The existance of Mary Sues has nothing to do with how happy someone is with their OC regardless of it being or not being one. If someone is happy having a Mary Sue, that's their business. I do not condone harassing people about it, or forcing them to change their Mary Sues if they are happy with what they have.

That, however does not mean Mary Sues do not exist, OR that all OCs are Mary sues, in which chase then all characters would be Mary Sues given that all official/ published character were, at some point, OCs.

And it does matter because while SOME people are happy with what they've got, others ARE NOT. Some people are serious about their writing and their characters and they want them to be the best the can be, they do not want bad characters or bad stories. Obviously.

So basically, this is for people who DO care, for whatever reason it is that they do, and want to avoid all the cliches.
